Dalinar discusses with the Stormfather that he needs to find out what is happening at Urithiru.
 
The Stormfather suggests he ride the current high stormhighstorm with him via a vision. Dalinar rides at the front of the storm towards urithiruUrithiru. He notices wonders as well as villages destroyed by the Everstorm. He sees two men trapped out in the storm and begs the Stormfather to spare them. The Stormfather declines, stating that he would not be a storm if he did not rage. Dalinar calls him a coward and argues that having sympathy is important and that he should change. They arrive at Urithiru and at first do not see anything wrong. Dalinar pushes back, insisting he must investigate. He sees Kaladin clinging to the side of the tower, hanging on and badly wounded. Dalinar asks him what is happening, and he explains that the forces of odiumOdium now occupy the tower, Navani is captured, the pillar is partially corrupted, and the radiantsRadiants other than himself are all unconscious.
 
Dalinar wakes from the vision realizing the tower has been occupied by the enemy. He goes to seek another Bondsmith to increase his powers in order to fight back.
