The '''Five Scholars''' were a group of [[Returned]] who studied the magic systems of [[Warbreaker]] in detail. Their research led to the ability to create [[lifelessLifeless]] with only one [[Breath]] as well as the formulation of the [[Ichor-alcohol]] necessary to ensure their continued and efficient operation.

They were friends and colleagues until [[Vasher]] co-created the sword [[Nightblood]] and killed one of them with it. The creation of the [[lifelessLifeless]] began a war which eventually split [[Hallandren]] and [[Idris]] into two nations.
