''Dark One'' takes place partly on Earth and partly in Mirandus, a fantastical world focused around electricity.{{ref|name=deadline}} On this worldMirandus, the ground itself carries an electrical charge and the flora and fauna has evolved around that charge. An example of this being certain animals being able to shoot spittle that acts like a taser.{{ref|name=teslatopia}} The Earth in Dark One is very similar to the real Earth, with the exception of the Dark One being able to use some powers.
