Editing Telrii

Spoiler Policy Reminder

Under our spoiler policy, any content from books that are not fully released is not allowed on the Coppermind. This includes any information from pre-released sample chapters, readings, and other comments Brandon has made about Stormlight 5. The only exception to this rule is on meta-pages for the books themselves (e.g., Wind and Truth). If you are unsure whether the information you want to add comes from pre-release content, please do not add it and instead ask about it on our Discord.

By the Time of Iadon's death, Telrii had become the second richest man in Arleon through Hrathen's financial aid, and would there by become the next King. To prevent this, Princess Sarene and Duke Roial wanted to marry in order to unite their fortunes and surpass Telrii's own. But their plan was foiled by Hrathen, who administered a poison to Sarene that mimicked the effects of the Shaod. Thus Sarene was tossed into Elantris and Telrii became King of Arleon.

However upon taking the throne, Telrii decided to renege on the deal with Hrathen, refusing to officially convert to Shu-Dereth unless made into a gyorn; otherwise he would be under the whims of any Derethi priest, and he knew a gyorn would be considered higher than even a monarch.{{book ref|Elantris|48}} At that time Count [[Ahan]] made Telrii an offer to betray his fellow conspirators. Telrii led his soldiers to Kiin's house and planned to kill everyone inside, even though he had promised Ahan that he would only imprison them. The soldiers killed [[Roial]], but then Raoden, who was believed dead, intervened and caused Telrii and his men to flee.
