Spoiler Policy Reminder

Under our spoiler policy, any content from books that are not fully released is not allowed on the Coppermind. This includes any information from pre-released sample chapters, readings, and other comments Brandon has made about Stormlight 5. The only exception to this rule is on meta-pages for the books themselves (e.g., Wind and Truth). If you are unsure whether the information you want to add comes from pre-release content, please do not add it and instead ask about it on our Discord.

A ketek is a form of holy Vorin poetry which reads the same forward and backward (allowing for changes in verb form), and is also divisible into five sections, each of which also expresses a complete thought. The full poem should be grammatically correct and have a poignant meaning.sa1 Vorin poets tend to weight the middle word and build the poem around it. Singer poets, the only currently known one being El, weight the poem differently. El intentionally made the last line longer than the rest.sa4

Examples
Keteks are a part of multiple Vorin ceremonies. Keteks are written by the female loved ones of the deceased for funerals. Other keteks are traditionally used in funerals. Both kinds of keteks are spoken aloud before being burned by Ardents as prayers.sa3 Keteks are also given to a bride on her wedding day after her makeup is finished.sa3
