Marsh was a Seeker, a [[Misting]] who could burn bronze. This allowed him to hear Allomantic pulses and find Allomancers. He was highly skilled and taught Vin how to use bronze effectively.
 
Upon becoming an Inquisitor, he gained further abilities in Allomancy and [[Feruchemy]] through the use of [[Hemalurgic]] spikes. He initially had 11eleven spikes. Some of the spikes granted Marsh the abilities of Allomantic [[steel]],{{book ref|mb2|57}} [[iron]],{{book ref|mb2|58}} [[pewter]],{{book ref|mb3|34}} [[tin]],{{book ref|mb3|42}} [[brass]],{{book ref|mb3|65}} [[zinc]],{{book ref|aol|epilogue}}, [[copper]], [[bronze]] and [[atium]],{{book ref|mb3|81}} as well as granting him the abilities of Feruchemical [[gold]]{{book ref|mb3|69}}. His spike for Allomantic [[bronze]], coupled with his natural ability as a Seeker, lets him pierce standard copperclouds.{{epigraph ref|mb3|37}} After Ruin took control of the Inquisitor's he gained ten more spikes, giving him twenty-one in total.{{book ref|mb1|epilogue}}{{book ref|mb3|13}} His new powers included Allomantic [[duralumin]],{{epigraph ref|mb3|72}} Feruchemical pewter,{{book ref|mb3|65}} Feruchemical steel,{{book ref|mb3|42}} and Feruchemical atium.{{wob ref|4142}}
