Gavilar proposes an expedition to the Unclaimed Hills. The expedition encounters Parshendi with gemstones woven in their beards This encounter leads to their discovery of chasmfiends, the source of the Parshendi's gems. The Shattered Plains are in the Unclaimed Hills.
