Tasked with finding a way to seek information on the [[Cult of Moments]] and a way to access Kholinar's [[Oathgate]], Shallan, disguised as Veil, scrounges for information. During her exploration of the city, Shallan encounters an urchin named [[Grund]]. In exchange for information, Shallan trades food to the boy. Despite her charitable actions, Shallan unwittingly causes the death of Grund after the boy is attacked by group of thugs that had been stealing the food given to him.
When Shallan began to doubt her actions taken to provide for the poor citizens in Kholinar, [[Wit]] arrived and comforted her. While talking, they discussed the meaning of power, eventually giving Shallan the advice she needed to infiltrate the [[Cult of Moments]]. In order to avoid being attacked by the deranged cultists, Shallan utilized the Oathgate to telport Azure, Adolin, Kaladin, and herself along with their spren.
