The '''Val''' is a [[starfighter]] used by scout teams in the [[DDF]]. They are not heavily armed, as they are designed for scanner avoidance and speed, and have a single 131 Stewart destructor instead of the standard 138, which has more firepower.{{book ref|sky1|41}}{{book ref|sky1|32}} The scanning sensors on the val-class outcompete those used on other DDF ships as they have a longer range and are more sensitive to detail.{{book ref|sky1|41}}
