Hoid wore a brown hooded cloak and played a stringed instrument related to the [[enthir]]{{wob ref|12052}} outside the [[Hall of Judgement]].{{book ref|ws1|4}} He was passed by [[Kenton]] and [[Diren]] heading toward the building to speak to the Taisha on behalf of the Diem. Later Hoid sailed with Duchess [[Khrissalla]], [[Baon]], and [[Diren]] to [[Darkside]], playing a song on deck about how the greater the distance between the creator and the audience, the less clear the original intentions of the creator.{{book ref|ws3|6}} He sees Diren test Baon for his potential as a sand master and sees the resulting explosion of power.
