'''Surgebinding''' is a prime manifestation of [[Investiture]] on [[Roshar]]. Surgebinders can manipulate ten fundamental forces locally known as [[Surge]]s. The extent to which a Surgebinder can use these forces depends on the way the Surgebinder acquired powers. They can use either one Surge, a naturally occuring pair of Surges or in exceptional cases all ten Surges.
Each Fused has access to one Surge which Odium grants them. The grant is permanent and persists across reincarnations. They exist in nine different varieties called brands, each associated with a Surge. The missing tenth Surge is speculated to be [[Tension]].
