Teft dropped unconscious suddenly in the middle of their conversation,{{book ref|sa4|39}} the result of [[Raboniel]] successfully activating the [[sibling]]'s defenses with [[Voidlight]] such that it suppressed Radiant powers while still allowing [[Voidbinding]].{{book ref|sa4|38}} Kaladin felt disoriented for a moment, but he immediately moved to check on Teft, whom he assumed was having either a stroke or a severe aftereffect of withdrawal from firemoss. They decided to take Teft to the [[Edgedancer]] clinic, so Kaladin carried him as Rlain led the way. After discovering the Edgedancers unconscious too, they took Teft up to Lirin's clinic. Syl appeared and confirmed that she couldn't see Phendorana anywhere either.{{book ref|sa4|39}}

When a Regal [[Stormform]] arrives at Lirin's clinic searching for unconscious Radiants, Kaladin defends Teft and kills the singer, then flees with Teft on his back to protect his own family from retribution. Teft remains in the hidden room which the [[Sibling]] leads Kaladin to. Kaladin and [[Dabbid]] periodically gather supplies from an [[ardent]] feeding Teft broth through a feeding tube to keep him nourished.
After Lift is freed and brought to their hidden room, she is able to heal Teft enough for him to wake. Disoriented and confused, Teft believes that he had been passed out from firemoss use, and is emboldened to hear that he is still sober. Phendorana appears at this time, and Teft gives Kaladin, and Dabbid a more detailed version of his childhood trauma surrounding the [[Envisagers]].
The crew devise a plan for Kaladin to distract the Fused while Teft and Lift sneak into Lirin's clinic to have Lift heal the unconscious Radiants, then escape Urithiru. However, upon arriving in the clinic, they spring [[Moash]]'s trap, intended for Kaladin. Moash wounds Lift with Jezrien's [[Honorblade]] before using a [[raysium]] dagger embedded with an [[anti-Stormlight]] gem to permanently kill Phendorana, incapacitating Teft. After a brief conversation, Teft accepts his fate, knowing that he will die as someone who was loved. Moash then kills Teft.
After Urithiru is liberated, Bridge Four has Teft's body [[soulcast]] into stone. The mortician was unable to change Teft's scowl into a smile, which Bridge Four finds appropriate. Kaladin hugs Teft's statue before leaving him behind.
