Szeth is master of the three lashings, Stormlight, and the Shardblade he wields. Szeth is proficient at the martial art of Kammar as well. Furthermore, he shows cunning, intelligence, resourcefulness and determination. When ordered, Szeth is an unstoppable killing machine.

Szeth was bonded to an Honorblade which granted him the [[Surgebinder]] powers of a [[Windrunner]]. He was not bound to an honorspren like the other known Windrunner, [[Kaladin]].{{qa ref|949|12|Is Szeth bound to a spren?|date=2013-02-16}} Szeth possessed relatively expert knowledge of the Windrunner order of the [[Knights Radiant]], knowing the name of the order as well as the name for the powers they possessed: the three [[Lashing]]s.
