;Plot Summary
Shallan discuses the murder investigation with Adolin. Adolin says that he thinks there are two culprits, but doesn't explain why. Shallan thinks that he is being foolish and shouldn't focus on one theory two much. Shallan thinks about sneaking out and investigating as Veil. After they finish there discussion Adolin asks to train Shallan with the Shardblade. Shallan freaks out, still not over the fact that she killed her mother with that. She creates an alternate identity, while drawing the image Pattern offers to go away and be replaced an offer that Shallan ignores, whom she names Brightness Radiant. With that persona she is able to overcome the history of the blade. She trains with Adolin. Only near the end do they start sparing each other. Adolin uses the guards that make the blade dull but Shallan doesn't need it since Pattern can change its shape.
