Roshar's environment has developed in a unique way due to its highstorms. Plants and animals have developed shells and other means of protection against the harsh environment.
Roshar's surface gravity is, at 0.7g, significantly weaker than that of Earth. This (in part) is responsible for the native creatures growing so large.
