A year after the deal, Taravangian Ascended to Odiums' power, killing Rayse with [[Nightblood]].{{book ref|sa4|113}} His previous [[Old Magic]] afflictions seemedseem to have vanished as soon as he Ascended, and hashe possesses all the power of the Shard. When [[Wit]] was walking the hallways in Elhokar's palace, Taravangian confronted him, and tricked Wit into believing that Rayse was still the Vessel of Odium. He then tampered with Wits' [[Breath]]s, that contain his memories.{{book ref|sa4|118}} It is unclear if this is going to be permanent, as Wit seemed to know something was wrong when his memories were stolen.{{book ref|sa4|epilogue}}
