==History==
[[Kaladin]] saw one of Nenefra's works in Celebrant. Kaladin did not usually care for art, but his eye was drawn to a market stall displaying various works. Nenefra's painting was small, but Kaladin immediately noticed it, and was almost unable to look away from it. He thought he could make out nine shadows with a figure at the center. The [[Reacher]] selling the painting told Kaladin that each of Nenefra's masterworks appeared differently to different viewers. The [[spren]] said that the painting is a very rare find, although she did not reveal how this particular painting escaped burning and reached Shadesmar. She also considered three hundred [[Roshar#Currency|broams]] of [[Stormlight]] a "minuscule" price for one of Nenefra's masterpieces, although the humans generally found the pricing in Celebrant "bizarre".{{book ref|sa3|102}}
Kaladin initially thought the painting looked sloppy, like someone had used a paint-covered knife to make wedges that formed general shapes. However, as he looked at it, the shapes appeared "beautiful". He wondered if the shadows were the [[Unmade]], as visions from his mind began to overlap the shapes in the painting. He seemed to go into a trance-like state, and suddenly felt a strong desire to quickly reach [[Thaylen City]]. Nenefra's artwork appears to have some sort of power, or serve as a catalyst for some power, based on its effect on Kaladin. Kaladin was strangely drawn to the painting, and his perception of the champion with nine shadows and his need to reach Thaylen City seem to foretell the events of the [[Battle of Thaylen Field]].{{book ref|sa3|102}} It is not clear if the painting's effects are related to its existence in the [[Cognitive Realm]] or to [[BioChromatic Breath]], the Nalthian manifestation of [[Investiture]].
