As a [[nightmare]] Liyun can be almost entirely incorporeal, and can pass through solid substances such as walls.{{book ref|yumi|3}} Liyun though was able to become nearly stable, almost able to take on the color of flesh. Being a nightmare she is are capable of detecting thoughts, most notably fear, which is also capable of giving her more form and substance, as she feeds on them.{{book ref|yumi|3}} As a nightmare she can also feed upon [[Investiture]].{{book ref|yumi|25}}
