After Kaladin and Lirin learned that all of the Radiants were falling unconscious, Lirin convinced Kaladin not to go out and fight.{{book ref|sa4|39}} A [[Regal]] came to collect the fallen Radiants Lirin was taking care of in the clinic, and he tried unsuccessfully to keep the Radiants with him. When Kaladin attempted to intervene, Lirin tried to stop him from fighting, but Kaladin blocked him and killed the Regal, after which Lirin got mad at him and sent him away.{{book ref|sa4|43}}
Lirin and Hesina were later brought in to take care of the comatose Radiants, as the [[singer]]s could not.{{book ref|sa4|56}} While they were working, [[Venli]] and [[Rlain]] camearrived with a crate of maps Rlain stolehad stolen, and they discussed what to do with them; Lirin emphasised that he did not want to fight the occupation. Lirin saw that several of the water bearers had ''[[Glyphs/Index#Shash_(dangerous)|shash]]'' glyphs on their foreheads, and he explained to Venli how he thought they were a foolish idea.{{book ref|sa4|74}}
Later, Rlain came to him while in the infirmary, and Lirin told Rlain that the [[Regal#Stormform|stormform]] guards of the Radiants[[Pursuer]] posted there had seen him,. andThey questioneddiscussed whether or not they could trust [[Leshwi]] and Venli., and Rlain admitted that he did not know. Lirin left for a moment andabruptly recognized [[Dabbid]], whoamong the workers in the infirmary; the man told him and Rlain that Kaladin was dying.{{book ref|sa4|79}} Lirin gotadamantly intoinsisted an argument withto Rlain becausethat he would not promise not to give Kaladin up to the [[Fused]] after he healshealed him. Hesina volunteered to go instead, but Lirin told her she wonwouldn't be able to heal Kaladin by herself. Venli suggested freeing [[Lift]] and getting her to heal Kaladin instead.{{book ref|sa4|83}}
While talking withtogether Hesinaone day, sheHesina brought up Kaladin, and heLirin immediately made a pointargued that he iswas right in his attitude totowards Kaladin, and tried to leave. Hesina stopped him and told him that Kaladin iswas the best person to be a soldier. When he called the helpers wearing ''shash'' glyphs fools, she led him to [[Noril]], who said that he wearswore the ''shash'' glyph because Kaladin, unlike the [[ardent]]s, had helped with his depression. Hesina then asked himLirin to go to the rest of the people wearing ''shash'' glyphs and ask why they wear them.{{book ref|sa4|i|10}}
When [[Teft]] entered the infirmary after the occupying force discovered the [[Sibling]]'s final node, he noticed Lirin, Hesina, and Oroden bound and gagged in the back.{{book ref|sa4|103}} After Kaladin became insensate upon Teft's death, [[Moash]] took Lirin and gave him to the [[Pursuer]] with instructions to kill him if Kaladin regainsregained his senses.{{book ref|sa4|105}} The Pursuer gave him to Leshwi, who cut Lirin's hands free before giving him to another [[Heavenly One]] so she could try to stop the Pursuer. Kaladin defeated the Pursuer and went for Lirin, but the Heavenly One panicked and shot off, andtaking KaladinLirin followed.up Theto Heavenlythe Oneroof. landedKaladin onfollowed the roofpanicked flight, andbut Kaladinas followed. As Kaladinhe advanced on the Heavenly One, she threw Lirin off the roof.{{book ref|sa4|106}} Kaladin,After afterspeaking speakingthe [[Order of Windrunners#The Fourth Ideal|The Fourth Ideal]], Kaladin caught up to his father and grabbed Lirin'shis arm to slow himhis downfall. The two of them hugged, and Kaladin explained that he realized that both of their ways were correct, for them. Lirin berated him for cutting the rescue so close. Kaladin discovered the ''shash'' glyph on Lirin's forehead, and Lirin told him he was trying to show faith in him. Lirin brushed aside Kaladin's hair to see his brand, only to discover that it had finally healed. Kaladin fliedflew Lirin back to the tower.{{book ref|sa4|110}}
