While talking with Hesina, she brought up Kaladin and he immediately made a point that he is right in his attitude to Kaladin, and tried to leave. Hesina stopped him and told him that Kaladin is the best person to be a soldier. When he called the helpers wearing shash glyphs fools, she led him to [[Noril]], who said that he wears the shash glyph because Kaladin, unlike the [[ardent]]s, helped with his depression. When [[Teft]] entered the infirmary, he noticed Lirin, Hesina, and Oroden bound and gagged in the back.{{book ref|sa4|103}} After Kaladin became insensate upon Teft's death, [[Moash]] took Lirin and gave him to the [[Pursuer]] with instructions to kill him if Kaladin regains his senses.{{book ref|sa4|105}} The Pursuer gave him to Leshwi, who cut Lirin's hands free before giving him to another [[Heavenly One]] so she could try to stop the Pursuer. Kaladin defeated the Pursuer and went for Lirin, but the Heavenly One panicked and shot off, and Kaladin followed. The Heavenly One landed on the roof, and Kaladin followed. As Kaladin advanced on the Heavenly One, she threw Lirin off the roof.{{book ref|sa4|106}} Kaladin, after speaking [[Order of Windrunners#The Fourth Ideal|The Fourth Ideal]], grabbed Lirin's arm to slow him down. The two of them hugged, and Kaladin explained that he realized that both of their ways were correct, for them. Lirin berated him for cutting the rescue so close. Kaladin discovered the shash glyph on Lirin's forehead, and Lirin told him he was trying to show faith in him. Lirin brushed aside Kaladin's hair to see his brand, only to discover that it had finally healed. Kaladin flied Lirin back to the tower.{{book ref|sa4|110}}
