Lightsong the Bold, also known as god of bravery, was a Returned revered as a god by the people of Hallandren.wb

Before being Returned, he was Stennimar, an accountant often employed to discover fraud or embezzlement by looking through ledgers to find discrepencies. He died rescuing his drowning niece, Tatara, who fell off the boat Red Panther during a storm.wb He became a Returned with Llarimar, his brother, as his High Priest.

Lightsong was one of the Returned Gods with the duty and responsibility of security phrases to control ten thousand Lifeless, a quarter of Hallandren's army.
At the time of the Pahn Kahl rebellion Lightsong had been Returned for five years, and was one of the younger divinities in the Court of Gods.

In his early life Lightsong associated with other Returned of the Court, having a seemingly close relationship with Calmseer - whom he was rumoured to have slept with. Lightsong regarded some of the Gods of this period, including Calmseer and Brighthue, as honourable and he remembered them with reverence, saying they were far better and greater than most of the later Gods.

In his later life his most notable relationship with another Returned was Blushweaver. Whilst their conversations were highly flirtatious, this relationship never became physical in nature, much to Blushweaver's indignation due to her belief that Lightsong had previously slept with Calmseer. He also became friends with Siri, who saw him as probably the best of the Returned Gods in the Court at the time. He helps her, and gives her advice, and at one point this leads to Blushweaver becoming concerned that Siri liked him, however there was nothing like that between the two.

Following his discovery of a skill for interrogation; Lightsong discovered he had various skills that he had no memory of learning, including mathematics, sketching, a knowledge of sailing terms and juggling. He also discovered he did not have skills or knowledge of horses, gardening, sculpting, foreign languages, pottery, the dyeing industry, or sword fighting.

As a Returned, Lightsong takes care to maintain his apathetic and bitingly witty image, but truly does mean to do more than take advantage of the luxurious lifestyle offered by new position. Lightsong spends much time attempting to better understand himself and what he can do to be a good God to his people. UltimatelyHe feels that he is successfulnot a 'real' god to his people, despite the fact that he is revealed to have the most followers, and recieve the most petitions. This at some points leads to him being more and more lazy to try and prove that he is not the great, mighty person they think of him as. However, he still tries to be the best person he can be, and actually gives thought to the petitions he recieves, feeling bad at having to say no to each person. His brother and High Priest Llarimar also sees him as a god, as if Lightsong, who died saving someone, could become Returned, then surely the Hallandren Gods were worth believing in. Ultimately he proves himself to be a good person, even worthy of being a god, and during the Pahn Kahl rebellion, he dies giving his Divine Breath to heal Susebron's cut out tongue, playing an instrumental role in the prevention of a second Manywar.wb
