Before being Returned, he was '''Stennimar''', an accountant often employed to discover fraud or embezzlement by looking through ledgers to find discrepancies. [[Stennimar]] and his neice [[Tatara]] often go sailing as it is a hobby of his brother Llarimar's. During one of the excursions, they borrowed the boat [[Red Panther]] and sat sail, only to encounter a terrible storm. In a chaos, a massive wave sweeps Tatara away. Stennimar leaped into the ocean and managed to tie her to a rope despite barely knowing how to swim. He died rescuing her. After his death, Stennimar was granted a vision of war and destruction. He was offered a choice to Return and prevent this from happening, which he took.{{book ref|wb|57}} His Return restored the faith of his older brother, [[Llarimar]], who became Lightsong's high priest.
