Hrdalm came to help Adolin fight the Thunderclast during the Battle of Thaylen City. He acted as distraction and defence while Adolin attacked the monster. He ended up being pinned by two [[Fused]] and saved by Adolin throwing Maya at one of the Fused. He expressed amazement at this feat. He lost his Shardhammer during the battle but eventually began using one of the Fused's lances. He is the one who commanded Adolin to rest as he was too injured to continue. He expressed deep reverence and gratitude to Adolin when he is lent Maya for the battle. ▼

Hrdalm wielded the [[Shardplate]] Cvaderln,{{book ref|sa3|120}} which had been in his family since ancient times.{{book ref|sa3|59}} The helm had stylized Thaylen eyebrows shapped like backward sweeping knives. The Plate was painted black and skirted with a triangular pattern of interlocking scales. The plate's name roughly meant “shell of Cva.”{{book ref|sa3|120}}
