Hoed are Elantrians, after the Reod, found it too hard to live after sustaining too many injuries. Since Elantrians are immortal, when the pain becomes too much, they can only lie on the ground, barely coherent, muttering broken phrases, for all time.

Hoed can be relieved from their pain if they are taken to a nearby Shardpool, which vaporizes their bodies.
