Teft's parents were part of the Envisagers. Contrary to his parents, Teft thought it nonsense and left the sect.{{book ref|twok|57}} He didn't believe until he saw [[Kaladin]] infusing [[Stormlight]].{{book ref|sa1|38}} Unfortunately, Teft couldn't seek advice from them, because he unintentionally caused their deaths when he reported the Envisagers' activities to their citylord. The citylord, for reasons Teft does not understand, had the entire group executed.{{book ref|sa2|71}}
