Symbolspren'''Truthspren''', symbolspren or symbolheads, are apparitions that are possibly a type of [[spren]] from [[Roshar]]. They are not directly visible; [[Elhokar]] sees them only in his peripheral vision, and [[Shallan]] captures them in her sketches of her surroundings. They are humanoid in shape in size, dressed in stiff, unnaturally straight robes. In place of faces, they have twisting, jagged symbols.
 
 
Symbolspren follow [[Shallan]] around during her struggle to make [[Jasnah]]'s [[Soulcaster]] work. The symbolspren, or truthspren, as they may be called, ask a truth of the person attempting to Soulcast. If the person says something completely true, they are transported to [[Shadesmar]], where they can Soulcast.
