Prior to The Way of Kings, all Cosmere books were published in Chronological order, but some important stories had been skipped.{{wob ref|10107}} From other interviews, we know that [[Dragonsteel]] comes at the beginning of the series.{{wob ref|9869}} Elantris will have a sequel which takes place ten years after the first book.{{wob ref|10193}} [[White Sand]] is one of the earliest,{{wob ref|9869}} but seems to come after Elantris, since it and Dragonsteel are considered the first two.{{wob ref|1355}} and comes before Elantris.{{qawob ref|944|1510502}} From the time of the [[Shattering]] to the Prelude of The Stormlight Archive might be around 6,000 years.{{wob ref|1355}} Another of the skipped novels is set on [[Ashyn]].{{wob ref|10107}} The Warbreaker sequel, [[Nightblood (book)|Nightblood]] takes place closer to Warbreaker and definitely before The Way of Kings.{{wob ref|5657}} There will also be a fifteen-year gap between Stormlight books five and six (the two story arcs).{{wob ref|1300}}{{wob ref|1380}}
