Very powerful Soothing can put a Hemalurgic creature under complete control, and once controlled, the Soothing is no longer required. This can be achieved by a single [[Allomancy|Mistborn]] or [[hemalurgy|Hemalurgist]] burning [[duralumin]] and brass together, a combination of a [[nicrosil|Nicroburst]] and a Soother, or a group of Soothers and/or Rioters working together, though in the early days of [[Final Empire]], when Allomancy was much more powerful, a single Soother was able to do it.{{book ref|mb2|54}}{{book ref|mb3|3}}{{epigraph ref|mb3|21}}
Soothing inside of a [[Bendalloy|speed bubble]] could give the same effects as burning duralumin, and can still be aimed without the normal hindrances of exiting time bubbles.{{wob ref|15224}} Soothing can be stopped by an [[aluminum]]-lined hat and possibly by aluminum over the Soother's chest.{{wob ref|8223}} It can also be stopped by the helmet of a [[Shardplate]].{{wob ref|15717}}
