Zu is one of the guards ordered to bring [[Wan ShaiLu]] before the five [[arbiter]]s of the [[Heritage Faction]] after she is captured.{{tes ref|2}} He shows a great dislike for Shai, promising that he'll eventually kill her{{tes ref|2}} because he feels insecure about his failure into capturingapprehend her when she steals from the Rose Palace.{{tes ref|58}} After sheShai islearns shown thethat Emperor [[Ashravan]] is comatose, heZu is assigned to oversee the security of Shai'sher room. He is the only Striker who knows of Ashravan's injury and whatthe deal that the arbiters planstrike forwith Shai to docreate an [[Essence Mark]] that will revive him.{{tes ref|3}} He personally guards the arbiters that come to visit Shai's room.{{tes ref|12}}{{tes ref|17}}

This time, however, Shai easily bests him using her ''[[Shaizan]]'' [[Essence Mark]]. She breaks his wrist and six of his ribs.
