Arriving in the lower terraces of New Seran Wax uses steel pushing to take his group up to the top terrace where the hotel they were was located. After arriving at the hotel Wax prepares to attend the party being hosted by Kelesina Shores. {{book ref|mb6|10}}{{book ref|mb6|11}} Heading to the ballroom where the party is being held wax encounters Hoid disguised as a beggar, and after a short conversation, Hoid gives Wax a coin. Wax then heads to the ballroom but is relieved of his firearms at the entrance of the ballroom. At the party, Wax meets Khriss after having a conversation with lord Grave Entrone. Khriss questions Wax extensively about his feruchamical and allomantic abilities before going off to pursue another topic of questioning. Wax then meets with an informant who tells him about a building project to the north east of New Seran and gives Wax an ominous warning. Wax then returns to Steris but is stopped by Kelesina, Wax deciddes to inform Kelesina about what he knows, visibly concerning her and she excuses herself. Returning to Steris Wax informs her of what happened and Steris creates a diversion so they can go to a more isolated place in the mansion.{{book ref|mb6|13}} Acquiring a gun that Steris had snuck into the dance, Wax goes off to investigate Kelesina's activities and overhears her talking to his uncle.{{book ref|mb6|14}}{{book ref|mb6|15}}
Wax drops in on Kelsina talking to his uncle through a telegraph for voices, shortly after a Terris steward disarms him and shoots Kelesina, implicating Wax in the murder. With the help of MeLaan Wax fights off the security of the Mansion and escape the mansion. {{book ref|mb6|16}} After escaping Wax decides to leave New Seran and Head towards the building project to the northeast instead of heading home and trying to lessen the ramifications of the murder he was implicated in.{{book ref|mb6|17}}
=== The Bands of Mourning ===
Wax rides toward the construction site in a stagecoach and on the way to the site he and Marasi discover how the cube-like device that they recovered on the train operates.{{book ref|mb6|17}} At the construction site, Wax, MeLaan, and Marasi infiltrate the perimeter with the help of Wayne, where he realizes that the construction is a giant boat and decides to infiltrate it to find his sister. Wax proceeds to explore the ship with Wayne and after some time discovers the chamber where his sister is being held. Taking advantage of a distraction created by Wayne, Wax manages to get into the room where Telsin was being held..{{book ref|mb6|18}}.{{book ref|mb6|19}} After rescuing Telsin, Wax, Wayne, and Telsin escape the ship in a smaller ship with the help of a crew member of the ship. After a brief conversation with Telsin, Wax decides to go after the Bands of mourning.{{book ref|mb6|21}}
Arriving at the temple where the Bands of Mourning are supposedly being kept before Suit's henchmen, Wax ventures inside alongside the rest of his group. Inside the temple Wax proceeds with caution after seeing the corpses of Hunters that came before him. With the help of MeLaan and Mr. Suit Wax manages to get into the room where the Bands were being kept only to be betrayed by Telsin and Mr. Suit, Wax gets shot 3 times and dropped down a pit.{{book ref|mb6|26}} After another confrontation with Mr. Suit Wax dies {{book ref|mb6|27}}and has a conversation with Harmony where he is eventually offered a choice between freedom and duty, Wax chooses duty. Wax is revived by tapping the power in the Bands of Mourning, using the powers he heals and frees himself and then goes after Mr. Suit and Telsin. {{book ref|mb6|28}} Wax intercepts Suit as he tries to escape, after a brief conversation they fight and Wax comes out the winner.{{book ref|mb6|29}} {{book ref|mb6|30}}Wax and his group take the southerner's ship back to Elendel where he hands over the Band of Mourning to Kandra for safe keeping. Wax then asks Steris to marry him.
