[[Beacon|Beacon's]] [[Lodestar]] [[Elegy Salvage]] believed the Refuge to be real and to be the most viable salvation for her people to escape the [[Cinder King]].{{book ref|tsm|15}} After Elegy's capture, [[Zeal]] leads a team of Beaconites to steal the Cinder King's [[Scadrian]] [[ScadrianHaridan's Authorizationauthorization Keykey|authorization key]] believing it to be a key to the Refuge which the Cinder King had found and kept for himself.{{book ref|tsm|12}} [[Nomad]], knowing that the key actually belongs to a Scadrian [[Scadrian research facility|research facility]] agrees to to lead the Beaconites to the door and open it for them. Nomad attempts to tell the Beaconites that the door does not lead to Refuge but he is rebuffed.{{book ref|tsm|11}}{{book ref|tsm|44}}
