The '''New Empire''' followedfollows the [[Final Empire]] on [[Scadrial]] after the death of the Lord Ruler and the [[Collapse]].

After the [[Collapse]], when [[Elend Venture]] wasis crowned to rule over the [[Central Dominance]], he establishedestablishes the New Empire.

Following his ideas of a fair government Elend createdcreates a constitution with the aim toof givegiving the [[skaa]] a chance to get involved in politics. This parliament wasis called the Assembly. It consistedconsists of 24 members, including 8 skaa workers, 8 [[noble]]s (including the king) and 8 tradesmen.

When King [[Straff Venture]] broughtbrings his army to Luthadel to take overretake the city from his son Elend, the Assembly evolved to bebecomes a threat to Elend's ability to function as king. RegardingTaking into consideration the coming winter and, the tersenessscarcity of food and wood/oil to heat the tenements and, before all, the fact that there wereare only twenty thousand, mostly untrained, troopsof their soldiers in the city, the Assembly tendedwants to give the city to Straff. With effort, Elend wasis able to convince the majority of the Assembly to give him time set up a meeting with his father. Elend wasis sure, that Straff wouldnwon't attack the city. Then a second army camecomes to Luthadel, headed by another King, [[Ashweather Cett]], making the Assembly even more nervous. Cett mademakes his way into the city and wasis allowed to take residence in one of the abandoned former Noble's Keeps. Now two armies were besiegingbesiege Luthadel.

Even whenWhen a third army -- an army of twenty thousand Koloss, led by King Jastes Lekal -- arrivedarrives, Elend triedstill tries to convince the Assembly to stay with diplomatic efforts, avoiding a battle that would be desperate and cost a lot of lives.

When finally a meeting with Straff wasis finally arranged, the Assembly scheduledschedules a meeting at the same time, knowing that Elend couldn't participate and -- in his absence -- degradeddepose him, appointing Lord Penrod as new king. ThenThey theythen decideddecide to accept Straff as their emperor, although he would never get the city.

The Assembly wasis abolished after the [[Siege of Luthadel]]. Henceforward the New Empire wasis a monarchy under King Elend Venture and [[Vin]].

Up untilBy the year of the [[Final Ascension]], the New Empire gatheredhas an army of over fifty thousand soldiers. The army of the New Empire wasis known for its well trained warriors. The last year of its existence wasis affected by battles against [[Ruin]]'s [[Koloss]] armies and natural disasters.

In the course of the time, each inner [[Dominance]] fellcomes under the reign of the New Empire. However, its capital, [[Luthadel]] fellfalls victim to revolts and a House War.{{ref|annotation|mb3|chapter=77}} The survivors escapedescape from the natural disasters into the cache of Luthadel or into the [[Pits of Hathsin]].
