The Eila Stele is believed by historians to be the oldest extant document on Roshar. It is in the form of a carving, presumably on a stone [[Wikipedia:stele|stele]]. It was first thought to predate the first [[Desolation]]s, and possibly be written by the [[Herald]]s.{{book ref|sa3|111}} Dawnchant became a dead language over time,{{book ref|sa2|47}} and the meaning of the Eila Stele was lost.
