The battle is tough for the Alethi, since the Parshendi Stormform makes them more powerful, and also allows them to blast lightning at their foes. After advice from Rlain, Dalinar commands the Alethi troops to kill the groups of group of singers in the Parshendi rear. Adolin, despite losing his mount, [[Sureblood]], manages to accomplish this by ambushing the singers from behind. He then engages in a duel with Eshonai, which ends with them both falling down a chasm. Adolin is, however, rescued by the bridgemen [[Skar]] and [[Leyten]], while Eshonai disappears. On Roion's plateau, however, the Parshendi gain the upper hand, and manage to kill [[Teleb]], one of the Kholin [[Shardbearer]]s.
