The '''battle of Badon''' was a major battle between the [[Waelish]] and the [[Weswarans]]. It occurred in the time of [[Ealstan]]'s grandfather, who fought in the battle{{book ref|frugal|24}}.

The Waelish were led by their king, the [[Black Bear]], who had freedcorrupted the [[wights]] and commanded themonsters, monstrousincluding the wolf [[Fenris]]{{book ref|frugal|13}}. The gods initially refused to intervene in the battle, fearing the end of the world, but eventually [[Friag]] appeared. Her boasts bound the Black Bear to his land. Fenris killed [[Friag]] but was bound again with her dying breath. Fenris is now bound to the hill of the Black Bear{{book ref|frugal|24}}with her dying breath.
