Background
After having met Parshendi in the region where the Shattered Plains are located, King Gavilar started to establish diplomatic relations with the non-human species. This lead to a treaty between Alethi and Parshendi. The Parshendi were invited to Kholinar to celebrate the signing of the treaty.

On that night, Gavilar revealed to the Parshendi his secret intention to bring back the old Parshendi gods in order to also bring about a return of the Heralds. He mistakenly believed that the Parshendi would welcome this news. In reality, their ancestors had abandoned their gods in favor of freedom, and they did not want their gods to return.sa3
