[[Adolin Kholin]] was causally betrothed to Shallan after Jasnah proposes marriage between the two adolescents to secure the stability the Shallan needed for her family. She accepts, hoping to use his power to save her family. They meet on the [[Shattered Plains]] and Shallan is immediately smitten by his looks. Shallan was quickly able to be comfortable around Adolin, sharing her true self with him and even revealing her identity as a Knight Radiant to him. After Shallan reveals herself to be a Knight Radiant, he teaches her how to fight with a [[Shardblade]]. The two have shown a profound amount of trust for one another as seen when they both exchange their deepest, darkest secrets with one another. Shallan revealed to Adolin that she suffers from dissociative identity disorder while Adolin shared his part in the murder of Highprince [[Torol Sadeas]].
