'''Windspren''' are type of [[spren]] that are either attracted to, create, or are created by wind.{{ref|b|twok|c|57}} They were quite common on the [[Shattered Plains]].{{ref|b|twok|c|47}} Since windspren are larger spren, they can change their size and shape, so their appearances varies. Their color seems fairly static, usually being blue, white, or both.{{ref|b|twok|c|40}} The shapes they take include a ribbon of light,{{ref|b|twok|c|2}} a misty cloud,{{ref|b|twok|c|4}} a flame,{{ref|b|twok|c|40}} or human form, where they can mimic human facial expressions and voices, but they do not think.{{ref|b|twok|c|2}} They only appear to those who they want to see them.{{ref|b|twok|c|21}}

Windrspren have a penchant for playing tricks, such as sticking two objects together.{{ref|b|twok|c|2}} They enjoy following people and bothering them,{{ref|b|twok|c|40}} but tend to lose interest in things quickly.{{ref|b|twok|c|14}} Windspren also fly along just before the [[highstorm|stormwall]].{{ref|b|twok|c|34}} After the highstorm has ended, they can be found flying around in the wind currents.{{ref|b|twok|c|2}} Windspren seem to be corporeal enough to move small objects.{{ref|b|twok|c|11}}

[[Syl]] was originally thought to be windspren, but was actually an [[honorspren]].{{ref|b|twok|c|67}} There appears to be some unknown connection between the two types of spren.{{ref|?|836|26|That's part of it. That's part of something else.}}
