This page is a full list of the templates available on the Coppermind with a brief description of their functionality, organized by category. Each category of template will often have a parent template that is used by the other templates in that category. This parent templates generally should not be used directly on pages in the Coppermind. See :Category: Templates.

Notice templates insert boxes that alert users to information regarding the page itself. Some notice boxes should be placed at the top of the article (spoiler warnings, for example), while the notices describing the status of the article will often go at the bottom. Many of the Notice templates will also link the page to a category containing all pages with that notice.

Parent Template:

* notice

These are specific notices that can be given:

* attention identifies an article that are in particularly bad shape and requests that users edit it.

* cite note identifies an article that has no citations at all. It is essentially one large cite template.

* complete identifies an article that is sufficient in content

* copyright ask the user not to copy the content on the article. It should be used when the article contains exact text from a book, like The Way of Kings/Epigraphs.

* delete asks for an administrator to delete the page

* deleted identifies an article that discusses deleted material, i.e. characters or scenes that were written but ultimately cut from the published novel.

* exemplary identifies an article that achieves high standards in both completeness and style. This template should only be used by Coppermind staff.

* good identifies an article that is mostly complete, but is lacking in either details or style. This template is not commonly used.

* merge asks for an administrator to merge the page with another page

* move asks for an administrator to move the page

* multispoilers is used to provide spoiler warnings for multiple works

* partial identifies an article that has some information but is still missing large amounts of content. More complete than a stub, but less than a complete article.

* spoilers warns users about new material they may not have read yet. Spoilers should be applied to articles for about a year after the general release of the material.

* stub identifies an article that contains very little information

* theory stipulates that the article or section should not be considered canon

* uncanonical identifies articles without canonical names, like New kid

* unpublished identifies articles discussing unpublished material. Note that this is not the same thing as deleted material.

* update identifies articles that need to be updated with information from new releases. Similar to the spoiler template, this should be used for about a year after the release of the material. After that, the article should be identified as partial instead.

Reference templates are used when citing information. These templates will take the information about a source and format it into a footnote, with a number next to the citation in the text and the full reference at the bottom. There are many different resources that have specific reference templates, including many common websites like Theoryland and the 17th Shard, as well as all of the individual books that Brandon has written.

Parent Template:

* ref

The following resources have specific templates:

* 17s ref will link to a post on the 17th Shard forum

* annotation ref will link to an annotation on Brandon's site using the same parameters as book ref

* article ref will link to another article on the Coppermind

* au ref will link to the summary page for Arcanum Unbounded, which is formatted differently from other books

* book ref adds a chapter summary reference

* bws ref will link to any page on Brandon's site

* epigraph ref will link to the epigraph (chapter heading) list

* file ref will link to a file uploaded to the coppermind

* glossary ref will link to a glossary section

* map ref will link to a specific map on the coppermind

* msh ref will link to the summary page for Mistborn: Secret History, which is formatted differently from other books

* qa ref will link to a Theoryland Interview Database question/answer

* reddit ref will link to a post on Reddit

* tes ref will link to the summary page for The Emperor's Soul, which is formatted differently from other books

* tor ref will link to a page on tor.com

* tweet ref will link to a tweet on twitter

* twg ref will link to a page on the Timewaster's Guide forum. This reference should not be used, as the website no longer exists and is archived on the 17th Shard Website.

* url ref will link to a general url

* wp ref will link to a wikipedia article
