Rosharan mythology
“According to the mythology of the world, mankind used to live in The Tranquiline Halls. Heaven. Well, a group of evil spirits known as the Voidbringers assaulted and captured heaven, casting out God and men. Men took root on Roshar, the world of storms, but the Voidbringers chased them there, trying to push them off of Roshar and into Damnation.”

So on Roshar Damnation was the place where those were sent after death who didn't deserve joining the Tranquiline Halls and therewith it was the counterpart to the Tranquiline Halls.
In Vorinism people were to become best in their glory and calling for after death one may join the Heralds fighting to reclaim the Tranquiline Halls from the Voidbringers. In Alethkar the highest calling was to be a great warrior for this purpose. But each profession was needed in the Tranquiline Halls, so i.e. farmers and cooks, too.
The people on Roshar often use "Damnation" as a curse word.Cite error: Invalid <ref>
