Like all Shards, WhimsyMercy was created at the [[Shattering]] of [[Adonalsium]], and picked up by an unknown Vessel.{{msh ref|3|2}} It is not known what WhimsyMercy did directly after their Ascension, or where they settled, if they settled at all.

Mercy was involved in a battle between [[Odium]] and [[Ambition]], which resulted in a wound inupon the [[Spiritual Realm]] and ultimately in Ambition's Splintering. This clash had profound effects on the planet [[Threnody]]. This is likely the battle in which Ambition was Splintered.{{epigraph ref|sa4|27}}

Some time around the [[True Desolation]], [[Harmony]] reached out to Mercy about the threat posed by Odium, at [[Hoid]]'s request, but became troubled by Mercy as a result of their exchange.{{epigraph ref|sa4|2225}}{{epigraph ref|sa4|2522}}
