He views 'middlers'—lighteyes who are of at least the eighth dahn but not quite highlords—as useless. Once his highmarshall, [[Azure]], joined [[Shallan]], Alaward and the rest of his squad followed Kaladin into [[Kholinar palace]], and took place in the [[Battle of Kholinar]] once it happened. Because no further mention of him is made, he probably dies there along with almost all of the rest of his squad.
