Adien was an Elantrian from Sel.

He was the youngest son of Kiin and Daora; brother of Lukel, Kaise and Daorn.

Adien was taken by the Shaod five years prior to Raoden and Sarenes marriage. His family hid his change in condition with makeup.

Adien instinctively knew the distance from one place to another, measuring them with the length of his stride. Throughout his life, people believed him simple in the head due to his constant sleeping and mumbling about distances.
