Adolin asks Sadeas why he is the way he is and Sadeas tells Adolin that an army cannot have two generals and it has to be him or Dalinar who goes. Adolin says it doesn't have to be that way, but Sadeas reiterates that it must and that he will take everything Dalinar has. Adolin finally snaps and attacks Sadeas. The two wrestle and Adolin manages to stab Sadeas through the eye and into his brain with a knife, killing him. Adolin ditches [[Oathbringer]], which materialized at Sadeas's death, out the window and into one of the planters. He cuts his bloody cuffs off and erases the chalk marks that indicated he had been in the vicinity. He returns to his scouting party and pretends he had been with them the whole time. {{book ref|sa2|89}}
Adolin supervised the workforce that is unloading good into Urithiru. They use a huge room, 4 stories high, to become the new market place. His wrists were still hurting from the [[Battle of Narak]]. He is summoned by his father when Sadeas' body is discovered.{{book ref|sa3|2}} Adolin keeps quiet about his involvement and is put in charge of training the Alethi armies. Shortly after, he attendeds Dalinar's wedding.{{book ref|sa3|4}}
When the murder is later discovered, Adolin keeps quiet. But he is very disturbed when a second murder happens in exactly the same way a few days later. He is put in charge of the investigation by Dalinar.{{book ref|sa3|9}} During this time he also starts teaching Shallan how to use her shardblade.{{book ref|sa3|15}}▼

The Kholin lifestock is housed on the groundfloor of Urithiru with an outside field for [[Gallant]], Dalinar's Ryshadium. Adolin goes to visit the horse and talks with im as Dalinar isn't giving attention to his mount. Adolin reminisces about the good times he had with Sureblood. He is still mourning the loss of his Ryshadium. Renarin comes by looking for Adolin. Renarin explained how he wants to give his shards back to Adolin as the sword screams when he touches it. The Kholin brothers talked about Renarin's emergin Radiant powers. Renarin expressed his fear that he would hurt someone, which Adolin waves away. In response Renarin healed Adolin's wrist.{{book ref|sa3|10}}
