The unique geography of the Shattered Plains required the armies to cross many chasms to reach the battlefields. Brightlord [[Sadeas]] employed a large number of slaves to transport his armies temporary bridges. These slaves were also used as cannonfodder for the [[Parshendi]] bowmen.
