Adolin's hair is mostly blond, with streaks of Alethi black running through it;sa1 and it has been described as an unruly mopsa1sa2 and a stylish messsa1. Despite the blond hair color hecomes andfrom Renarinhis theymother are both Dalinar's legitimate sons.3012 Itand is, however, seen as a marksign of theirhis bloodline being impure. by some Alethi.sa2 KaladinHis believeshair Adolin'shas motherbeen maydescribed inas factan beunruly frommop28 becauseand hisa hairstylish is mostly golden blondmess.sa2sa1 Adolin prefers to remain clean -shaven, but he diddoes grow a beard when heafter threwthrowing himself in jail in protest of Kaladin's imprisonment. His beard was also blond speckled with black.sa2 His eyes are bluesa1 and have an epicanthic fold4079. He has been described as handsome on numerous occasionssa1sa1sa2 and, as he is Alethi, it can be surmised that his skin is tan in color. However, because he is half -Riran, his skin tone is lighter than his father's.3932 There is some inconsistency as to Adolin's height,; beinghe is described as both shortersa1 and the same heightsa2 as Dalinar. Shardplate adds a few inches to his height but hestill isdoesn't make nothim as tall as Kaladin.sa2 He has a birthmark on the back of his left thigh. sa3

Personality
Adolin is incredibly loyal to his father, despitethough nothe doesn't always seeingsee eye-to-eye with him and is certainlyvery much unafraid to voice his opinions.sa1. Despite his opposing views he remains steadfastly obedient, listening to his father and following the Alethi Codes of Warsa1 even if he does not necessarily believe in them or wish to obey them. He shows an unwillingness to become the highprince when Dalinar considers stepping aside in favor of him, still intensely loyal to his father.sa1. His skepticism surrounding the Codes eventually changes and Adolin begins to understand their purpose. He grows to become a better leader becauseas ofa thisresult and at the same time he grows further away from the people he once considered to be friends.sa1.

He deeply cares about his family and one of the few times Adolin admits to being frightened is seeing his father looking fragile and worn down.sa1. Adolin even allows the four-on-one duel to continue when Relis Ruthar threatens to have Abrobadar "accidentally" kill Renarin.sa2. He is also quick to defend Renarin when Sadeas insults his younger brother.sa1. Adolin seems to have had a good relationship with his deceased mother as well, carrying a chain that once belonged to her for good luck during duels.sa2

He is impulsive, often having to be held back by Renarin or rebuked by his father.sa2sa1. Sadeas even refers to him as a "firebrand".sa1. This impulsiveness of his has lead to him throwing Kaladin across the practice grounds while sparring,sa2, accidentally allowing Relis Ruthar to set him up in a one-on-four duelsa2 and contributed in some part to his snapping and murdering Sadeas.sa2

Adolin has a strong sense of right and wrong. In his first encounter with Kaladin he saves a prostitute from being beaten by one of Sadeas's officers.sa1 He also throws himself in jail as a show of solidarity with Kaladin.sa2

He is shown to be very confident, charismatic and friendly, being on good terms with both lighteyes and darkeyes.sa2 While Adolin likes to be familiar with a large number of people, calling them friends and acquaintances, he prefers to not be close with any of them.sa1 He's also infamous for his numerous courtships in whichBefore "he continuesmarries toShallan change partners likeDavar, he's inalso ainfamous dancefor thathis involvesnumerous, particularlyshort-lived quick musiccourtships."sa1 Adolin admits to Kaladin that while he knows how to get women he is unsure of how to keep them.sa2

Adolin is observant, and thiswhich has also leadled to him being suspicious of those he does not trust. He absolutely does not trust Sadeas, even when his father asks him to, and is eventually proven right at the battleBattle of the towerTower.sa1 He is suspicious of Kaladin for a long time, being the only one to notice that the arm Szeth had cut with his Honorblade had miraculously healed itself.sa2 He is the first person outside of Bridge Four to believe Kaladin's claims about Amaram, stating that he always felt the man was hiding something.sa2

Adolin is very tactically minded. Shallan notes that he is not as "brilliant" as Kaladin,sa2 but this does not mean he is unintelligent. He even admits to sometimes feigning at being dense.sa2 He applies his knowledge in a more direct manner to win duels and battles and isn't quite as skilled in wit or rhetoric.sa2
Adolin is compared to his father on various occasions, with Dalinar continuouslyhimself saying that Adolin is a better man than he is.,sa2 though Adolin believes differently.sa2

He doesn't seem to be particularly religious, something Dalinar points out.sa1
