ZaiDon is a staple food on the Dayside of Taldain, it is a soft and flexible jerky made from sandlings melted with water, then seasoned and spiced while left out in the sun to dry. It is eaten with every Dayside meal, or is at least a common part of the average Dayside meal.[1] It is often eaten alongside a variety of sauces, dips, chutneys, and tapenades; or used to thicken soups.[1]

It varies in thickness, with some being thick and others being thin, and it melts in your mouth as you eat it. The flavor of ZaiDon depends upon the sandling it is made from, ranging from buttery to gamy.[1] ZaiDon is sometimes spiced with ashawen.[1]
