Hi there! A few things[edit]

Hi there!

I'm Eric and I'm one of the Coppermind administrators. I just wanted to reach out about a few recent edits! Thank you for adding some good details. A few things:

1. We would prefer that the Attributes and Abilities section, like other sections, to be written in prose, so please don't add bullet points to them. (Looks like your edits today didn't do that, so that's great!)

2. I was looking at some gallery edits you made, and saw you had changed different galleries to different pixel heights. Please note that the Coppermind will look different on different screen sizes, so pixel-precise changes probably aren't advisable. I will be reverting these back to 200px. If you think in general the galleries should be taller, that's okay! Let's chat about it in our Discord server. It's challenging to balance readability with scrolling. Obviously the bigger each image, the more you'd have to scroll to see them all, which can be somewhat of an issue with characters that have a large amount of images.

3. We've been adjusting some of your edits for spelling and grammar. Could I request you run spellcheck on these edits? I will say that it has been challenging to parse quite a lot of the text. I want to thank you for your boldness in editing, and we want to commend that. A lot of Elantris pages need work, after all! We can fix a lot of things with further editing. However, it would be helpful if you could run some grammar and spellchecks so your English is readable on the wiki. In addition to misspellings, I also noticed a lot of words that were randomly capitalized.

Let any of us know if we can help you! -- Chaos2651 (talk) 18:38, 28 January 2022 (UTC)

Yeah to add on to what Chaos said, remember that its good to cite information on pages, which the Guides and Policies part of the wiki has info on. Also make sure to capitalize terms correctly. If you want a handy tool (that I use a lot), user:Chaos2651/Capitalization is a page with lots of info on what terms are to be capitalized. For example, names of Allomantic metals: tin, brass, copper, etc, aren’t capitalized. However, Tineye, Soother, Smoker, etc, are capitalized.
One more thing, if something like a character or the Well of Ascension is mentioned in your writing, and it isn’t linked earlier on the page, make sure you link it. ( by putting two brackets on either side)
Just something to keep in mind when you’re making edits! : ) Taln Fan (talk) 12:44, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

Citations and spelling[edit]

Hello! We appreciate your contributions here, and thank you for running them through spellcheck, as it seems like you've been doing that. However, I wanted to reach out to you again about some things. I know that spellcheck won't catch names or terms that Brandon has made up for his books, so could you perhaps double check how you are spelling those things? That can be difficult if you are perhaps an audiobook reader, but you could either search for the pages in the sidebar or just look through the page you're editing to compare your spelling with how the name or term is spelled elsewhere in the article. This will also help save effort on behalf of the other editors, who would otherwise have to come through and correct the spelling. Thanks for understanding this.

Also, we here at the Coppermind try to be very strict on adding only information that is sourced to any article. I've seen that most of your edits don't have any citations on them, so maybe I could point you to Help:References as a resource to learn about that. There's a small learning curve, but we'd be happy to help you if there's something you don't understand about how to do that. If you are unable to track down where the information came from in the book, you could add {{cite}} to the end of the paragraph to indicate that, and someone else can look for the citation later.
