  • Investiture - magical energy that, along with energy and matter, make up all of the Cosmere
  • Invested Art - naturally occuring way of humans(?) accessing and manipulating Ivestiture.

Soulcasters, the devices, were created to imitate the abilities of the Surge of Soulcasting (or Transformation). This is yet another mechanical imitation of something once only available only to a select few within the bounds of an Invested Art.

  • Innate Investiture - inherent Investiture a person or object has. Questionable if this includes things like Breath beyond what a person is born with
  • Kinetic Investiture - Investiture actively being used
  • Manifestation of Investiture - any manipulation of Investiture. Includes Invested Arts and mechanical manipulations like fabrials or medallions. Are naturally occurring phenomenon like perpendicularities and Cognitive Shadows part of this?

On Scadrial, there are three prime manifestations of Investiture. Locally these are spoken of as the “Metallic Arts,” though there are other names for them.

  • Forms of Investiture - most common way of describing different Investitures

I have no answer, but perhaps you can see what it is about this form of Investiture that so drives my curiosity.

[3]

Again, this seems to point at a distinctiveness, as most other forms of Investiture are only concerned with perception.

[3]

As in other forms of Investiture, intent is very important.

—Note: intent refers to Intention and should be capitalized[3]

I’m certain you will find this relevance of hue quite intriguing, particularly in its relationship to other forms of Investiture.

Because the Cognitive Realm has distinct locations (unlike the Spiritual Realm, where most forms of Investiture reside), magic on Sel is very dependent upon physical position.

—I find this quote to be a particularly compelling and important use of this term.[4]
  • Types of Investiture - only used once, so may not be distinct. Current usage refers specifically to the Investiture that allows someone to become a practitioner of an Invested Art, whereas forms of Investiture is more generic.

This has been of specific interest to me lately, as the mixing of different types of Investiture has curious effects.
