Interlude I-1: Eshonai[edit]
Eshonai returns from a chrysalisrun with her army, back to Narak at the center of the Shattered Plains. Noting Devi who had spotted the chrysalis and thus had the honor of carrying the gemheart, Eshonai feels a little disappointed that the fight wasn't harder. She also wonders where the Blackthorn was and why he hasn't come to fight her again, since the Battle of the Tower. Noting that fewer of her people sung to the rhythm of excitement or even to resolve, she considers how the Parshendi are falling into depression. Walking towards the ruins she thinks about them and notes that the upwards facing enormous stalagmite, was probably once been a spire.
